Johnny Kovacevic - Artist

Biography
Johnny’s dramatic yet meditative monolithic paintings were originally
inspired by the ancient Buddhist structures of the 12th century Cambodian kings.
‘Man as God’ is a constant theme that has run through many cultures
– East to West. The ever present drive for humans to leave a mark on
the earth, beautiful or otherwise, is a character trait that continues to
gain pace as we embrace the 21st century.
Kovacevic invigorates this idea directly into the delicate rendering of the
rock faces he paints – the high key colour contemporises the drama while
the sky-scapes provide visual respite from the intricate detail of the
formations.
Having initially trained at Julian Ashton Art School, Johnny completed his studies at Sydney’s National Art School, so you know he can paint! These works, handpicked by keen UpRaw eyes, are a testament to exquisite oil painting in all their liveliness.
